Pneumatic Disc Sander
By Eric Norris, Sam Kau, and Braylen Perkins
Our team was tasked with modifying a pneumatic elbow engine. We chose to integrate the elbow engine into a pneumatic disc sander with built-in dust evacuation.
We wanted to highlight the pneumatic nature of the elbow engine by turning its air power into a key strength. We came up with an idea to use the exhaust from the elbow engine to help funnel dust towards our dust collection system, improving the usefulness of what would otherwise be considered a by-product, and giving our product an edge on competition.
I’m most proud of the case design, which I modeled from sketches using Siemens NX surface and solid modeling.
This project was modeled and rendered using Siemens NX and presented in Canva.
